Characterisation of the fishing gear materials flows in the Autonomous Region of Madeira

The report analyses the material flows of fishing gear in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, in the context of tackling marine litter, particularly abandoned, lost or discarded fishing gear (ALDFG). The study quantifies the types of gear used, the materials they are made of and the associated waste flows.
The report also makes recommendations for improving the collection, recycling and traceability of fishing gear.
