Fil&Fab recovers end-of-life nylon fishing nets and produces Nylo, a polyamide 6 granulate recycled from fishing nets. The company works with several French ports in Brittany and along the Atlantic coast.
They work with port managers, characterising the fishing nets and providing specifications to be met.
They collect the used fishing gear in big bags, usually in collaboration with the waste management company contracted by the fishing port.
Inspection of the nets and dismantling of the small rope is carried out on the company's premises, as is shredding. Granulation is carried out by a subcontractor. The raw material is then sold to manufacturers who wish to incorporate Nylo® into their production.

Results

The company produces granules from 100% end-of-life fishing nets to create objects such as surf boards, filaments for 3D printers and sunglass frames.
The main obstacles are the fact that the nets are sometimes too contaminated and cannot be recycled. Sorting and dismantling nets takes a long time. Also, recycled materials need to find a market.

This company closed in September 2025.
